Placenta Encapsulation FAQ

How does this whole process work?

Fill out our online intake form and we will send out a digital quote and contract. You will be able to secure services and pay our deposit online in just a few minutes.
Once you have the baby you preserve the placenta (don’t worry we have that covered too!) and call us and we will pick up from the hospital and return your pills in 1-2 days.

Should I choose Raw Start or Traditional Method Encapsulation?

Traditional Method involves steaming the placenta before dehydration. In the Traditional Chinese Medicine school of thought steaming the placenta first creates a warming energy that balances and adds to yang energy. Some people who are very sensitive to hormones find that Traditional Method Encapsulation is gentler than Raw Start. The steaming may also kill any bacteria that may be present from the birth process. Often if the placenta has meconium staining or the mother is GBS positive she may choose Traditional start.
When doing Raw Start the placenta is not steamed before encapsulation. People who hold to a Raw Foods diet claim that heat destroys important enzymes, proteins and hormones. Raw start does produce a higher yield of capsules and mothers often report that they have very distinct increases in energy and mood after taking the capsules. This may lead to a jittery feeling if the dosage is too high.
Ultimately there is no research that shows that one is better than the other. Many women feel drawn to one method over another or may be undecided. If someone is undecided on method I tend to lean towards doing the Traditional Method preparation for them.

Do you add herbs to the pills?

I never add anything to your placenta.

What is a tincture?

Our tincture is made with high quality organic gluten free vodka. It comes in a 4 oz bottle. The tincture needs to steep for at least 6 weeks. After 6 weeks you can use the tincture off of the top of the bottle or choose to filter it. We provide a filter kit and 1 oz bottle to filter into.
Tincture has an indefinite shelf life. This makes tincture a great resource for the long term and for premenstrual, menopausal, or any other hormonal times.

I had my baby now what?

Preserve the placenta using the kit you have mailed to you! The placenta is double bagged. Extra bags are filled with ice from the hospital and everything is packed into the provided single use cooler. Give me a call or send a text. I will come during visiting hours to pick up the placenta.

Can I still encapsulate my placenta if I have an induction, pain medication and/or a cesarean birth?
